And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)
As The Church, we must pursue God’s presence. As we turn to Him and experience His glory face to face we are transformed. When we fully engage in expressions of worship like prayer, praise, music, the arts, acts of service, hearing God’s word, and so many more… we meet Him face to face and are changed.
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.
Philippians 2:1-2 (NIV)
As Teams of Worshippers we have the unique ability to model worship as a posture of submission and sacrifice that we live our lives in. We live this life of worship because we love God and each other. In this posture, we become united with Christ and each other, sharing one mind, one heart, and one passion. Our passion is Christ, and He is worthy.
We believe in discipleship and seek to create opportunities for us to become apprentices of Jesus and each other. As we honor, serve, teach, and learn from one another we grow in character, skill and effectiveness. We become The Church.
Sharpen Conference began in 2012 as a training event for local church creative arts volunteers. Since then, it has grown to include musical, technical, leadership and discipleship tracks. This year’s event sees the addition of sessions focused on harnessing the beauty and prophetic potential of the fine arts.
Thanks to a steady flow of gifted speakers, industry professionals and experienced presenters who truly understand the challenges of modern church ministry, Sharpen Conference has helped pastors, leaders, and volunteers from as many as 100 Alberta churches create worship environments in which people are transformed by the presence of God.
All of this is wrapped in powerful times of music, prayer, and ministry that continually point participants to the One who has equipped and called them. Whatever their area of service, participants will emerge from Sharpen Conference inspired with fresh ideas, improved skills, and a renewed desire to see God’s power and presence unleashed in their church.
